Surgical Recovery Technician I – (1- opening) II – (3- opening) perform surgical recovery procedures by acting as either a surgical recovery circulator or surgical recovery cutter. To support the surgical recovery processes by completing all post recovery actions including the shipping of tissues and associated specimens, sterilization of surgical recovery instruments and equipment, as well as ensuring an adequate  inventory of supplies and equipment.  Able to perform all duties of a surgical cutter including, but not limited to, the aseptic recovery of human tissue for transplantation, aseptic packaging and labeling of recovered tissue, and donor reconstruction following tissue recovery. Surgical Recovery Coordinator (1- opening) responsible for the management of assigned surgical recovery including the donor evaluation, surgical recovery, staff performance, and documentation on all consented tissue donors.  Reviewing all donor case related information provided by the Consent Coordinator for completeness. Evaluate authorized tissue donors for eligibility through performing physical examination including the evaluation of trauma. Coordination and direct supervision of the tissue recovery process by ensuring the donor is recover in a suitable recovery site, organizing the recovery team and assigning duties to those technicians, as well as managing the process for the surgical recovery of tissue. Requirements: A Surgical technician certification or two years of work experience in surgical or healthcare environment is preferred. Experience working in the Tissue Banking industry.  Must become CTBS certified within 1 year of hire. Must be able to work with a human cadaver and have a good understanding of human anatomy. Must have a good understanding of surgical conscience and be familiar with all aspects of tissue donation. Must be able to work without immediate supervision. Perform an authorization for tissue donation process with donor families, as well as conduct an interview to obtain medical and social history information about the potential donor. Primary Responsibilities:

To provide leadership and direction over all aspects of the Oklahoma City Donor Services collection team for both mobile and fixed site operations.  Ensure that processes are in place to achieve optimal department efficiency by meeting successful key metrics, product collection, financial, quality, compliance and customer service goals.

Oversee and ensure all blood products are collected according to SOP and in compliance of all regulatory guidelines.  Actively participate in internal and external assessments/inspections including corrective action plans and effectiveness checks as needed. Oversee and ensure all quality focused records (CMS, ACPR’s, QC, etc.) are reviewed in a timely manner and maintained in compliance with SOP. Maintain a good knowledge of all SOP’s to which your team is responsible. Ensure that all EMTS tasks are managed in a timely manner. Maintain adequate staffing levels by creating a positive satisfying work environment that yields low turnover. Oversee and review staff schedules to ensure quality of life schedules with minimal over time. Make frequent visits to both fixed and mobile collection sites. Oversee and direct activities of the materials and equipment staff to ensure all equipment is well maintained and in compliance for quality control, calibration and annual PM’s and other Oversee and direct the activities of the DS Performance Operations Manager and Administrative Specialist. Oversee and participate in the performance of staff and leadership development, coaching and counseling and annual review process. Create a friendly competitive environment to motivate staff to achieve high system wide standings on all key performance metrics (loss rates, errors, conversion, GBF, etc.). Engage and motivate staff in the HEART program to achieve high standards of both internal and external customer service. Contact donors and drive coordinators as needed to follow up on donor issues and ensure a tracking system is in place to trend. Conduct routine meetings with supervisors and staff to communicate organizational vision, updates, and changes and recognize outstanding staff performance keeping morale high. Track and monitor inventory and collection goals, which include whole blood, automation rates, and WB conversion data.  Analyze data and make adjustments to increase productivity.  This includes working closely with recruitment to ensure projections are met.   Develop initiatives with the Recruitment Directors, identifying the tools and resources needed to meet and exceed key metric goals, specifically DaSH & CPUC, collection expectations and donor experience. Prepare and manage department annual budgets and continuously explore cost saving initiatives. Manage and rotate taking staff on call pager responsibilities.
