Sol Haberman Scholarship

The Sol Haberman Scholarship Award originated in 1970 to honor Sol Haberman for his pioneer work in blood group immunology.  The scholarship originated through the generosity of James T. Wheeler, M.D., who continued to fund the award for several years. Each year the South Central Association of Blood Banks offers the Sol Haberman Scholarship award based on the submission of an original paper by an SBB student from an accredited school within the South Central region. Papers submitted may include scientific, technical, educational, or case study papers in the areas of transfusion therapy, immunohematology, immunogenetics, transplantation and anthropology, or administrative papers in the areas of cost-control, regulations, quality control and instrumentation.

The Sol Haberman Award consists of a $300.00 scholarship check (funded by the general fund), a certificate, a full registration to the annual conference, and a complimentary banquet ticket if the winner attends the Association’s Annual Meeting.

Deadline to apply is March 30, 2021.
